Registration Help

This page is to guide you through the Spamjab Registration Process. It is split into relevant sections depending on which part of the registration process you are on. The help link on each page will take you directly to the Help section for the page you are currently on.

Registration - Personal Details

This page requires you to enter your own details.

First Name: Enter your first name or Christian name that you are known by.

Last Name: Enter your surname or your family Name.

Email Address: Enter the email address that you would like us to use for correspondence. This will become your user name.

I need a new email address: This box is for those who do not have an email address or would like to register a new '@spamjab.com' email address with us. You will get an option to choose your own email address on the next page.

Screen my email: This box is for you to choose whether you would like to block spam from your own email account. If you want to block spam to one of your accounts check this box. Note, this option only appears if you are registering your family.

I access my email using: If you have chosen for your email address to be screened you will be asked to select the method used for accessing your email. Choose 'Web' if you use internet based email, (e.g. Hotmail, Yahoo) or select 'POP3' if your mail is provided by your ISP, (Internet Service Provider), (e.g. BTinternet, Freeserve). Choose 'Both' if you have both types of account. Your POP3 account details will be taken first.

Registration - POP3 Details

This page requires you to enter details of your POP3 email account.

Incoming Mail Server: Enter the full address of the server where your incoming email is collected from. To find this information you can use one of the three guides below depending on the email program you are using.

Outlook/Outlook Express
From the Menu List select 'Tools' then 'Accounts' (if you cannot see 'Accounts' on your version then select 'Services'). Select the 'Mail' tab (if there is one) and highlight your email account from the list that appears. Click 'Properties' and from the window that shows up select the 'Servers' tab. This will contain the name of the incoming mail server.

Eudora
In Eudora you can find the Incoming Mail Server by choosing Tools > Options from the menu bar. In the Options dialog that will appear, click on the Getting Started icon and look for 'Mail Server (Incoming)'. This will contain the name of the incoming mail server.

Other Clients
If you use a different email client please refer to your software providers help literature on how to change your settings. Generally you will find a servers window, which will contain the Incoming Mail Server and User/Login Name. These are the only two fields, which need to be changed. If you still have difficulties please email us.

Login Name: Enter the name, which you use to identify yourself to the incoming mail server. To find this information you can use one of the three guides below depending on the email program you are using.

Outlook/Outlook Express
As above in Outlook/Outlook Express this can be found on the Servers tab, it is the Account Name.

Eudora
As above in Eudora this can be found on the Getting Started tab, it is the Login Name.

Password: Enter the POP3 password for your email account. This password will also be used as your Spamjab password and will be required for logging in to your Spamjab personal profile in order to make changes to your Spamjab settings.

Registration - Change POP3 Settings

Spamjab collects the emails from your mail server and then removes all the spam. Your email program must then collect it from the Spamjab server. To do this you must change two setting in your email software the Incoming Mail Server must be changed to mailhost.spamjab.com and Account Name to <your email address>. Spamjab will only start collecting your emails and removing the spam after you have collected your 'Welcome' mail and not before.

Registration - Webmail Details

This page gives you the chance to take a new email address with us. This is because currently Spamjab is not able to block Spam from webmail based accounts. If you do not wish to start a new account press Back in your browser to return to the 'Registration - Details' page. Then select to register a POP3 account. If you are registering your family then from here you may choose to not screen any of your own email addresses and instead proceed to register your family.

New Email: The first box on this page requires you to choose a new email address. Enter 'michael' if you would like your email address to be 'michael@spamjab.com'.

Password: Choose a password for your new Spamjab email address. This password will also be required for logging in to your Spamjab personal profile in order to make changes to your Spamjab settings.

Confirm Password: Re-enter your password to ensure you have entered it correctly.

Registration - Password

If you choose not to screen any of your own email, you will be brought to this page to select a password for your Spamjab account.

Password: Enter a new Password for use with your Spamjab account. This password will be required for logging in to your Spamjab personal profile in order to make changes to your Spamjab settings.

Confirm Password: Re-enter your password to ensure you have entered it correctly.

Registration - Child's Details

This page is for you to enter your child's details.

First Name: Enter your child's first name or Christian name.

Last Name: Enter your child's surname or family Name.

Gender: Select 'Boy' or 'Girl' from the drop down menu.

Date of Birth: Enter your child's date of birth into the three boxes filling in the Date, Month and Year respectively.

Relation to child: Use the drop down menu to tell us your relation to the child. If you are the child's parent then select 'Mother' or 'Father' accordingly. If you are related to the child in any other way (e.g. Grandmother, Uncle, Sister) please select 'Other'. Then use the box below to enter your relation to the child.

Child accesses email using: Select the method used for accessing your child's email. Choose 'Web' if the email account is internet based, (e.g. Hotmail, Yahoo) or select 'POP3' if the email account is provided by your ISP, (Internet Service Provider), (e.g. BTinternet, Freeserve). Choose 'Both' if your child has both types of account. The POP3 account details will be taken first. Choose 'New Account' if the child does not currently have an email account and you would like to open a new account with Spamjab.

Registration - Child's POP3 Details

This page requires you to enter details of your child's POP3 email account.

Email Address: Enter your child's email address. This is the address for which spam is to be blocked.

Incoming Mail Server: Enter the full address of the server where your child's incoming email is collected from. To find this information you can use one of the three guides below depending on the email program they are using.

Registration - Child's Webmail Details

Currently Spamjab is not able to block Spam from webmail based accounts. This page gives you the opportunity to create a new spam-free account for your child. If you do not wish to start a new account press Back in your browser to return to the 'Registration - Child's Details' page. Then select to register a POP3 account.

New Email: The first box on this page requires you to choose a new email address for your child. Enter 'michael' if you would like your child's email address to be 'michael@spamjab.com'.

Password: Choose a password for your child's new Spamjab email address.

Confirm Password: Re-enter your password to ensure you have entered it correctly.

Registration - Child's New Webmail Details

This page gives you the opportunity to create a new spam-free account for your child.

New Email: The first box on this page requires you to choose a new email address for your child. Enter 'michael' if you would like your child's email address to be 'michael@spamjab.com'.

Password: Choose a password for your child's new Spamjab email address.

Confirm Password: Re-enter your password to ensure you have entered it correctly.

Registration - Summary Page

This page summarises your registration with Spamjab so far.

Your name will be displayed at the top of the page. Then will appear a list of email addresses which you have chosen to screen.

From this page you may either add another child by clicking on the 'Add Another Child' button. Or to complete the registration process click on 'Next'.

NOTE: You will be given the opportunity to add another Adults' email address from the 'Personal Profile' page once registration is complete.

Registration - Final Page

Your registration is complete, but to start recieving spamfree mail you will have to tell your email software (client) where to pick up your filtered mail from. Only two settings need to be changed. 'Incoming Mail Server' and 'Login Name'. These settings need to correspond with the ones on the final registration page alongside your email addresses.

Outlook/Outlook Express  Eudora  Other

Outlook/Outlook Express: From the Menu List select 'Tools' then 'Accounts' (if you cannot see 'Accounts' on your version then select 'Services'). Select the 'Mail' tab (if there is one) and highlight your email account from the list that appears. Click 'Properties' and from the window that shows up select the 'Servers' tab. From here change the 'Incoming Mail (POP3)' setting to read the same as the new Incoming Mail Server above. Then change the 'Account Name' setting to the same as the new Login Name. Leave the other settings unchanged. Click 'OK' and you are ready to receive spam free mail. Follow the same procedure for the other registered email accounts.

Eudora: From the Eudora Menu List select 'Tools' then 'Options'. An Options window will pop up. Simply change the 'Mail Server (Incoming)' setting to read the same as the new Incoming Mail Server above. Then change the 'Login Name' setting to the same as the new Login Name. Leave the other settings unchanged. Click 'OK' and follow the same procedure for any other registered email accounts.

Other Clients: If you use a different email client please refer to your software providers help literature on how to change your settings. Generally you will find a servers window which will contain the Incoming Mail Server and User Name. These are the only two fields which need to be changed. Alternatively you can use the Webmail client provided by Spamjab.





How to make your Outgoing Mail Server use your old login name: To do this in Outlook or Outlook Express choose Tools > Accounts from the menu bar. In the Services dialog that will appear click on the Mail tab and then select the Internet E-mail service that you have registered and click on Properties. In the Properties dialog, click on the Servers tab and tick the "My server requires authentication" option and then click on Settings. This will open a new dialog where you need to select the "Log on using" option and enter your old account name and your password then click OK.
